It’s Time for an AC without Ducts

Ductwork can be expensive and almost impossible to install in smaller or older homes. Does that mean you can’t have quality air conditioning if this applies to you? Of course you can!

Ductless air conditioners have been around for years. They’re a tried and tested solution to the problems encountered with a standard central air conditioner. Aside from not needing an air duct system throughout your house, there are a plethora of incentives to switch over to a ductless AC. Believe it or not, many homeowners have trouble with air conditioning repair in Rancho Cucamonga because their central air system is not right for their house. So, if you’re completely content with your brand new central AC, this post might not be for you—but for everyone else on the fence about switching, you won’t want to miss this.

More Than Just an Alternative

Ductless air conditioners, known in the industry as ductless mini-splits, are more than an alternative to central air conditioning. They’re a different type of machine that could provide an alternative, as well as a solution for those having trouble with fitting a central air system in their home.

The Problems with Ducts

Air ducts have always been the conventional way to condition air throughout a home. Just because they’re typical, doesn’t mean they’re without a lot of problems. For starters, ductwork is expensive to install and requires a huge amount of space that small homes often lack. Also, ductwork problems can be even more expensive to deal with, and they will happen eventually. Even though companies like us provide duct sealing and other AC improvements, wouldn’t you like to avoid this problem altogether?

Best of Both Worlds

Not many people outside of the industry know this, but since ductless mini-splits are heat pumps, they can function in reverse as heaters during the winter as well! This is definitely something to keep in mind if you’re shopping for both a cooling and heating system for your new house, where you could save money and just buy them both in one unit. Ductless HVAC systems are energy-efficient heat pumps that run on electricity, so you don’t have to worry about finding the right contractor who will provide maintenance on boilers, furnaces, radiators, or any of those other heaters.

We get it, if it’s got a higher price tag—there’s got to be a really good reason why you’d buy it. Ductless mini-splits sell for a higher initial price than standard central air conditioners, but they have financial benefits over time. For instance, having your heating system and cooling system in the same unit covers the cost of buying a new heater. Also, since a ductless mini-split is multiple smaller units instead of one large air conditioner, you can only cool certain parts of your home if you’d like to save money on cooling costs. Over time, the costs of a ductless AC will be lower than the costs of a central air conditioner.
